sometimes you realize all too late that nothing about it was real, and that you’re just so temporary that it hurts. you’re blinded by your mantra, because you lied and told him you lived in the present, and you yourself soaked it into your bones, closed your eyes, and thought it could be okay. there’s another half of could, though. could not.
